Overview
The PSARA or Private Security Agencies Regulation Act is an act by the Government of India to provide rules to private security agencies. Additionally, PSARA also maintains vigilance on the registration of private security agencies.
The demand for security has increased considerably in recent years due to the increase in the number of business establishments. The increasing trend of private security establishments, firms, individuals or property etc. to hire security guards from private sources has led to a large number of private security agencies across the country. While these private security agencies help meet the security needs of the private sector, on the other hand, there is also a concern for the way these agencies work. Therefore, the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act has laid down several rules for the proper functioning and registration of private security agencies..

Eligibility Criteria
The PSARA license is not just given to a private security agency, and there are various criteria specified under PSARA to be eligible to obtain a license.
Eligibility Criteria for Companies
As per the Regulation Act of Private Security Agencies, 2005, every company wishing to register itself under PSARA is required to register itself as any of the following business entity types;
- Sole Proprietorship
- Limited Liability Partnership
- One Person Company
- Private Limited Company
- Partnership Firm
Director
To be a director or chief officer of a company, one must meet the following criteria below:
- Person should be a citizen of India
- In addition, it must be financially sound to bear the costs of running a PSA.
- He should never be convicted of any legal offense
- In the end, he was not convicted by a court qualified for any crime
Eligibility Criteria
- Person should be an Indian citizen
- Age limit of person should be between 18 to 65
- Person should be trained

Registration process
Eligible DocumentsThe initial step to apply for a PSARA license is to collect every single important nomination, for example, PAN Card, TAN Number, GST, PF, ESI, Registration of Establishment under Establishment and Establishment Act, of each head ITR, and so forth.
Memorandum of Understanding with Training InstituteCandidates have to go to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the training institute or organization, which regulates the jurisdiction for the purpose of providing training to security guards approved by the state. Each state has considered different security preparedness establishments for this reason.

States of PSARA licensePSARA sets the criteria, capacity, and predetermination for a security clock. Conditions in which your application may be ineligible

A person or entity should not be the one who is found guilty with the crime of promoting, creating or managing a company, which is involved in an undisclosed bankruptcy.

Further, if the applicant has any association with any such institution or firm, which is prohibited by the government under any law on account of their corrupt activities, it will not be granted a license.
Further, such organizations or firms were dismissed or removed by the government on grounds of malpractice, or moral punishment.
A company, firm, or association registered in India does not have an owner or significant shareholder, partner, or director who is not a citizen of India, provided the license is not issued under the Act.
Note: - Private Security Agency refers to an individual or group of individuals, who are involved in the business of providing security services. However, these security service providers are privately owned firms other than government agencies, departments, or organizations. In addition, these private firms are involved in providing security services to other organizations, businesses, or a person or property. In addition, they provide training to private security guards or their supervisors.Fees
Charges for obtaining PSARA license for private security agencies {PSA} working in different places are given below:
- Rs.5000 for PSAs operated in a district
- Rs.10000 for PSAs operated in two districts
- For PSAs operating across the state, Rs. 25000
Guidelines
The PSARA license is valid for five years from the date of issue of the license. However, in the state of Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh, this license is valid for one year. In addition, the license needs to be renewed after its expiration; For the same, the following steps need to be taken:
- The applicant needs to apply for the renewal of their license not less than 90 days before the expiry date of the license.
- The application must be submitted along with the documents as specified under Sections 6, 7, and 11 of PSARA with the prescribed fees.
Complaints
Under PSARA guidelines, private security agencies are required to follow certain compliance:
- All private security agencies should appoint supervisors to supervise the work of guards appointed in the organization
- These agencies are obliged to train the security guards appointed in their firm.
- PSAs should give priority to pre-defense candidates having three years of experience
- PSAs are required to comply with every criteria, qualification and disqualification specified under PSARA
