Eligibility
Following are the eligible bodies with above mentioned turnover to apply for state license:
- The dairy unit makes more than 50000 liters of milk or more than 2500 metric tons of milk solids per day.
- Units engaged in processing or processing vegetable oil of minimum 2 metric ton capacity per day
- Slaughter units
- Food business engaged in meat processing activity, capacity of 500 kg or more than 150 MT per day
- The wholesale food processing unit has a turnover of over INR 30 crores..
- A food business that does retail or distribution business, has a turnover of more than INR 20 crores.
- Restaurants
- Hotels
- Units engaged in processing plants including re-labels, re-packers and production units up to a minimum of 2 MT per day.
Required Documents
The following documents are required to apply for state registration:
- Duly completed and signed
- The blueprint or map layout of the location where the business is located
- Name and contact details of directors
- List of all the equipment & machinery installed and operating in the unit.
- List of food categories to be manufactured
- Id proof & address proof of proprietor issued by government
- Passport size photo
- Complete details of the food to be prepared
- Letter of authorization including the name & address of the responsible person
- Address proof of Aadhaar like electricity bill or registry in case of ownership
- In case the Aadhaar is rented or leased, rent agreement with the landlord and NOC
- License copy & No objection certificate from the manufacturer
- Certificate of Scheme relating to Food Safety Management System

License fee
Government fees vary according to the manufacturer's production capacity:
Applicable for a fee of INR 5000:- Production of 1 metric ton or more
- Range of 10000 to 50000 for milk units.
- Milk units range from 500 MT to 2500 MT in a year.
- Production less than 1 metric ton
- Milk production from 500 to 10000
- Milk production is between 2.5 MT to 500 MT in a year.
- The applicable fee for 4 stars hotel and below is INR 5000
- A simple fee of INR 2000 applies to each food provider such as hotels, restaurants, canteens, clubs etc.
State FSSAI license Procedure
The following is the simple step for FSSAI license:
- Attach Form A to the Department of Food and Safety with complete documents
- The department approves or rejects the application within seven days of receipt of the application
- On acceptance of the application, the department will issue the registration certificate. The department will also provide a registration number with the photo of the applicant.
- It is mandatory for FBOs to display the certificate of registration in place of food business unit during business hours.
