Overview

The term APEDA stands for Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. The Government of India introduced APEDA with the aim of Promote Export Council. In simple words, it is an Export Promotion Council which was inaugurated in the year 1985 and it works in accordance with the provisions and regulations mentioned in the Export Development Authority (APEDA) Act, 1985 of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products. It also works towards providing financials. Assisting scheduled products and issuing guidelines at the same time and providing information related to the progress of those products.

Agriculture plays an important role in the Indian economy by contributing to India ’ s total exports and 6 percent to total industrial investment. Gradually, the agriculture and processed food products industry is moving ahead in the direction of growth and expansion and it only becomes possible because of the government's ’ s policies. Government has drafted policies with the aim to boost agricultural industry by means of soil health cards, facilities available for storage, agricultural infrastructure, and irrigation policies.

All exporters of scheduled products are required to register themselves with APEDA. Any person who wants to get APEDA registration must first apply for registration of Import Export Code. Be sure to apply for APEDA registration within one month from the date of undertaking such exports. Furthermore, APEDA registration remains valid for a lifetime until the authority decides to revoke it.

Purpose of apeda

The purpose of improving APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) is to promote the export of scheduled products. In addition, the Government of India has drafted certain rules and regulations to efficiently and effectively promote the administration of the APEDA Act, which the government attempts to implement through this body.

Concept of scheduled products

The Government of India has established APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with the obligation to carry out export promotion and development activities of scheduled products.

Registration Process

The registration process has become easier for exporters; They can now submit online applications through the steps listed below:

• Go to APEDA's official website, login to it and & ldquo; Register as a member & rdquo; Tab
• Provide your basic details like import export code, email id and registered mobile number and then click on submit button.
• The details presented will be verified through One Time Password (OTP). An OTP will be sent to the registered email ID and mobile number; On the verification screen you have to enter OTP. Don't forget to click on submit button to proceed.
• After completion of verification, in the next step you will have to fill the relevant online application. Upload all required documents and be sure to convert all documents to JPEG, PDF or PNG format only.
• Rs 5,000 is charged as a fee for obtaining registration, which excludes taxes and can be paid in any of the following ways:

  1. Credit Card

  2. Debit Card

  3. Demand draft

• As soon as the payment process is complete an application number will be generated which will be required for future reference.
• Once the RCMC (Registration-cum-Membership-Certificate) is issued, the login details are sent to the registered email address of the exporter. Exporters can log in using the link “ Exporter login ” Apida is mentioned on the website.
• Clicking the link & ldquo; Track application & rdquo; Applicant RCMC (Registration-cum-Membership-Certificate) can check the status of the application.
• The exporter can correct any deficiency in the submitted application and resubmit the documents online.
• In the final phase of the registration process, APEDA officials approved RCMC. Upon obtaining approval, a certificate of registration can be obtained using the APEDA login details.

Initiated by APEDA

APEDA works with the aim of making the process of trade in the export sector of agriculture easier. APEDA has taken some initiatives to achieve this goal, the four major initiatives adopted by APEDA are:

• Hortinet

  APEDA developed Hornet, an Internet-based integrated traceability scheme. The purpose of starting this website was to encourage farmers to apply online to register their fields. Interested farmers are again required to apply online for the purpose of analysis, testing and certification of pomegranates, grapes, and vegetables so that they can be used for export from India to the European Union (European Union). With the help of Hortnet exporters can ascertain the quality and reliability of these products.

• Basmati.net

  Basmati.net has been developed with the objective of providing a common platform to all stakeholders available in the Basmati rice supply chain. Stakeholders can be any of the following:

  1. Farmer

  2. Paddy Traders

  3. Agricultural Produce Market

  4. Basmati Rice Millers

  5. Basmati Rice Exporters

• Meat.net

  The current export and import policy presented by the Government of India has made certain tests mandatory for each export consignment. These tests include microbiological and other tests conducted in a government laboratory and should be accompanied by a health certificate. APEDA has introduced a scheme with meat, according to which exporters can apply online for a health certificate for each export consignment of their meat product.

• Peanut.net

  Peanut.net is similar to Basmati and Hornet. It is also an integrated traceability scheme that was designed after the success of the first two traceability systems. The function of Peanut.net is to facilitate testing and certification of groundnut exported from India. Testing and verification is done following the standards provided by the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine. Additionally, it also maintains quality assurance data provided by stakeholders in the supply chain.
